Learn about the Native experience from government boarding schools to the Navajo Code Talkers of World War II, as a young Navajo girl works to sustain her culture in the face of a changing world. After leaving home on the Navajo reservation to pursue an education, Alice becomes a Navy nurse while her cousin enlists in the Marines as a Code Talker during World War II, both striving to find a balance between their Navajo and Western traditions. Q & A session will follow the performance. Living Voices, an educational theatre company, combines dynamic performance and archival film to bring life to history! Living Voices offers a personal look at how individuals and communities survived and thrived—finding strength, music, and moments of hope along the way.
